Alloy 20, often referred to as Carpenter 20, primarily consists of nickel (32–38%), chromium (19–21%), iron (the balance), along with molybdenum (2–3%), copper (3–4%), and trace amounts of manganese and silicon. This unique blend provides outstanding resistance to sulfuric acid and chloride stress corrosion cracking. In terms of mechanical properties, Alloy 20 boasts a tensile strength of about 80 ksi (550 MPa), a yield strength of around 35 ksi (240 MPa), and an elongation of 30–35%. It maintains excellent mechanical integrity across a broad temperature range, making it perfect for high-stress, corrosive environments.
