AISI 8620 is a low-alloy steel that includes nickel (0.40–0.70%), chromium (0.40–0.60%), molybdenum (0.15–0.25%), and carbon (0.18–0.23%), with iron as the primary element. This unique composition enables exceptional case hardening while ensuring a tough and ductile core. After heat treatment, its mechanical properties feature a tensile strength ranging from 850 to 1000 MPa, a yield strength of about 600 MPa, and impressive impact resistance. The material achieves a high surface hardness while maintaining a resilient core, making it perfect for wear-resistant applications that face impact and fatigue loading.
