Alloy Steel F2 contains approximately 0.5% molybdenum, low concentrations of carbon (~0.10–0.20%), manganese, and silicon. Following heat treatment, it possesses average tensile strength (up to 620 MPa) and excellent toughness. The alloy possesses resistance to oxidation as well as creep at high temperatures and is ideal for operation up to 540°C. It also possesses reasonable weldability and machinability. F2 possesses steady mechanical properties in thermal cycling conditions, and it is usually supplied in annealed or normalized and tempered conditions.
