Aluminium 2014 contains copper (3.9–5.0%), manganese (0.4–1.2%), and magnesium (0.2–0.8%). It provides high tensile strength of up to 483 MPa and excellent fatigue resistance. It is a heat-treatable alloy, often used in T6 or document_number_1 conditions, to improve its hardness and mechanical properties. While it offers superior strength, its corrosion resistance is lower than that of other aluminium grades and may need protective coatings. 2014 also has excellent machinability, making it suitable for complex, high-precision forged components.
