Aluminium 5052 contains magnesium (2.2–2.8%) and chromium (0.15–0.35%), with minimal amounts of iron and silicon. It offers tensile strength from 210 to 260 MPa and has excellent fatigue resistance. This alloy is non-heat-treatable but can be strain-hardened for extra strength. It resists corrosion well, especially in marine environments, and maintains good weldability and formability. It also performs well under moderately high temperatures, making it suitable for various structural and mechanical uses.

Aluminum 5052 offers excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, good weldability, and formability. It's lightweight, durable, resistant to stress cracking, and performs well in marine and industrial environments, making it ideal for custom forgings.
Aluminum 5052 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its relatively low melting point and poor high-temperature strength. Alloys like 7075 or 2011 are better suited for such applications.
Aluminum 5052 has excellent workability, making it suitable for forging. Its low-to-medium strength, good corrosion resistance, and formability allow for ease in shaping, reducing the risk of cracking during forging.
