Aiman Metals proudly manufactures and supplies Aluminium 5086 Forgings from its Kuala Lumpur facility, serving industries that need strength and corrosion resistance. Aluminium 5086 is a high-magnesium alloy with excellent weldability and marine-grade performance, making it suitable for use in saltwater. Our forgings are produced using advanced processes and high-quality alloys to ensure consistency and accurate dimensions. Aiman Metals offers custom solutions to meet the specific needs of customers in marine, transportation, and structural sectors, delivering performance and reliability with every product.
Aluminium 5086 consists of magnesium (3.5–4.5%), manganese (0.2–0.7%), and trace amounts of iron, silicon, and chromium. It offers tensile strength of up to 290 MPa and excellent resistance to corrosion, especially in saltwater. The alloy cannot be heat treated but gains strength through strain hardening. It maintains mechanical properties after welding and shows good toughness at low temperatures. 5086’s high strength and resistance to corrosion make it well-suited for structural applications, especially where light weight and durability against harsh conditions matter.

Aluminum 5086 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its relatively low melting point and limited strength at elevated temperatures. It is better suited for marine and structural applications.
Aluminum 5086 offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and weldability. It is ideal for marine environments, aerospace applications, and custom forgings requiring durability, lightweight properties, and easy fabrication.
Aluminum 5086's excellent workability enables easy forging, allowing it to maintain strength and formability. However, its susceptibility to cold working requires careful temperature control during forging to prevent cracking.
Aluminium 5086 Forgings are widely used in shipbuilding for hulls, decks, and structural components exposed to seawater. They are also employed in offshore platforms, chemical tanks, cryogenic vessels, and storage tanks due to their resistance to corrosion and stress cracking. In transportation, they are found in truck trailers, armored vehicles, and fuel tanks. Their ability to withstand tough marine and industrial environments makes 5086 a preferred alloy for high-performance forgings that require structural integrity and corrosion resistance.
