Copper C10700 bars and rods are oxygen-free high-conductivity copper alloys with minimal addition of silver intended to enhance performance at high temperature conditions. This alloy provides excellent electrical and thermal conductance, analogous to C10100, but with additional resistance to softening and thermal deformation from the presence of silver. C10700 is ideal for harsh electrical and electronic uses where accuracy and stability are essential. These rods and bars are manufactured to close tolerances, provide excellent surface finish, and are well suited for high-reliability electrical systems, particularly in aerospace, power distribution, and high-frequency communication equipment.
C10700 copper has about 99.9% copper and 0.03–0.08% silver with no oxygen present. It provides more than 100% IACS electrical conductivity and more than 390 W/m·K thermal conductivity. It has excellent formability and solderability. Tensile strength is between 210 and 370 MPa, depending on temper. Silver inclusion contributes to very high resistance to recrystallization and softening at elevated temperatures and is suitable for use in continuous current-carrying components. It also exhibits fine ductility, corrosion resistance, and workability for applications in precision-machined components.
