Copper C11300 bars and rods are free-machining copper alloys that possess superior machinability as well as good mechanical strength. With small tellurium or other alloying additions, C11300 has relatively high electrical conductivity with greatly enhanced machinability compared to that of pure copper. It is a very good material for use on automatic screw machines and precision parts that need close tolerances. C11300 copper is made up of 99.5% copper and trace amounts of tellurium (approximately 0.4–0.7%) to provide better machinability. It retains an electrical conductivity of around 90% IACS, and has a tensile strength of 260–380 MPa. It provides good resistance to wear, galling, and corrosion in environments other than strong ammonia bases. The alloy is cold workable and can be moderately hot worked. It is non-magnetic, solderable, and may be brazed or welded by proper methods. Increased machinability provides higher cutting speeds, improved chip formation, and increased tool life.
