Copper C11600 rod and bar, also referred to as Phosphorized Low Residual copper, is produced for superior corrosion resistance and weldability. The bars are produced with controlled phosphorus levels, which enhance their hydrogen embrittlement resistance without reducing conductivity considerably. C11600 is well suited for brazing and soldering operations and functions well in refrigeration, gas distribution, and plumbing systems. Having satisfactory machinability and thermal conductivity, these bars are an economical and tough material for industrial use. They are also the material of choice for those components that will be subjected to wet or chemical environments because of their improved corrosion performance and mechanical integrity.

C11600 copper consists of approximately 99.5% copper and 0.015–0.04% phosphorus. The composition is suitable to have better weldability and corrosion resistance along with electrical conductivity of approximately 90% IACS. Its tensile strength varies between 220–360 MPa based on temper. C11600 has good hot and cold workability, fair machinability, and superior thermal conductivity. The phosphorus is a deoxidizer that eliminates oxygen and allows for superior performance in brazed and soldered joints. It has good mechanical strength and ductility even after use through high-temperature operations in the processes of joining.
