Copper Nickel 70/30 bars and rods are corrosive-resistant, high-strength copper-nickel alloys with a 70% copper and 30% nickel composition. Possessing excellent mechanical strength and seawater corrosion resistance, particularly under turbulent or high-velocity flow conditions, this alloy finds extensive use in rigorous marine and industrial applications. The presence of additional nickel improves its structural stability, erosion resistance, and stress corrosion resistance. These bars are produced to precise specifications and employed in severe applications like naval ships, offshore platforms, and chemical process plant equipment. Their strength and toughness in adverse conditions ensure their high reliability.
The Copper Nickel 70/30 consists of 70% copper, 30% nickel, and slight additions of iron and manganese to provide strength and corrosion resistance. It has greater tensile strength (350–500 MPa) and yield strength (~150 MPa) than 90/10 alloy. Elongation is generally 20–35%, and electrical conductivity is reduced (~5–8% IACS). This alloy has superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and erosion, especially in seawater with high velocities or in polluted sea conditions. It retains strength over a broad range of temperatures and has good weldability and thermal conductivity.
