Copper Nickel 95/5 bars and rods are heavy-duty copper alloys containing 95% copper and 5% nickel, featuring moderate strength and good corrosion resistance. Though less frequent than 90/10 or 70/30 grades, Cu-Ni 95/5 finds value in applications needing greater conductivity with better corrosion performance than for pure copper. It is especially appropriate for relatively aggressive environments and parts subject to damp or marine atmospheres. Due to its high ductility, thermal conductivity, and formability, this alloy can be readily fabricated and installed. It also offers visual attractiveness for architectural as well as decorative uses needing both toughness and a good finish.
Copper Nickel 95/5 is composed of 95% copper and 5% nickel, with occasional trace amounts of manganese or iron. The alloy has good thermal and electrical conductivities (~25–30% IACS), tensile strength in the vicinity of 250–320 MPa, and average yield strength. It is highly ductile and is readily cold-worked, soldered, and welded. It is more corrosion resistant than pure copper, especially in mildly corrosive and marine environments. The alloy is also resistant to dezincification and finds application in potable water systems and HVAC equipment.
