Duplex Steel S32205 is austenitic-ferritic stainless steel having approximately 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, 5% nickel, and 0.17% nitrogen that contributes exceptional corrosion resistance and strength. It has a high yield strength of approximately 450 MPa, almost double that of normal austenitic stainless steels. The alloy has very good resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, even in chloride-rich environments. It has toughness combined with high fatigue strength and still possesses good weldability. Economical in comparison to the super duplex alloys, S32205 provides toughness and performance in harsh chemical, petrochemical, marine, and offshore engineering.
