Duplex Stainless Steel S32205 forgings have about 22% chromium, 5% nickel, and 3% molybdenum with small additions of nitrogen, carbon, silicon, and manganese. The microstructure consisting of about 50% austenite and 50% ferrite gives both excellent strength and good ductility. Chromium gives great corrosion resistance, especially in chloride environments, whereas nickel enhances weldability and toughness. Molybdenum increases resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Mechanical properties consist of tensile strength of 620–830 MPa, yield strength of 450 MPa, and elongation of 25% at 50 mm, providing durability, strength, and performance in critical, high-pressure industrial applications.
