Hastelloy X bars and rods are high-performance nickel-based alloys designed for exceptional performance at high temperatures. Containing a well-balanced combination of nickel, chromium, iron, and molybdenum, Hastelloy X is commonly renowned for its superior oxidation resistance, high-temperature strength, and thermal stress stability. These bars find wide use in applications where parts are subjected to temperatures above 1100°C, such as in aircraft engines, industrial furnaces, and petrochemical reactors. Hastelloy X also has superior weldability and fabricability, and hence is well-suited for intricate assemblies. Its strength, corrosion resistance, and versatility make it a leading contender in industrial and aerospace applications.
Hastelloy X consists of about 47% nickel, 22% chromium, 18% iron, and 9% molybdenum and traces of cobalt and tungsten. It possesses tensile strength ranging from 750–850 MPa and yield strength of around 300–400 MPa. The alloy has very good mechanical strength and ductility at high temperatures up to 1200°C. It has good resistance to oxidation, carburization, and stress-corrosion cracking. Hastelloy X is welded by usual techniques without post-weld crack and provides stable behavior in long-term high-heat exposure, which makes it ideal for severe high-temperature structural uses.
