Maraging steel is a high-alloy, ultra-high-strength steel primarily made up of iron, 18–20% nickel, 7–10% cobalt, 3–5% molybdenum, and small amounts of titanium and aluminum. It’s renowned for its exceptional strength, which is achieved through aging heat treatment instead of carbon hardening. Maraging steels can reach impressive tensile strengths over 2000 MPa while still maintaining excellent toughness and ductility. They show minimal distortion during heat treatment, boast superior weldability, and offer good machinability in their annealed state.
