Naval brass typically consists of about 60% copper, 39% zinc, and roughly 1% tin, with small amounts of lead or iron added to boost machinability and strength. The inclusion of tin enhances corrosion resistance, especially in saltwater conditions. Naval brass rods are known for their impressive strength, with tensile strength usually falling between 345–500 MPa, along with good ductility and impact resistance. They provide excellent hot workability and moderate cold workability. This alloy is celebrated for its toughness, durability, and resistance to dezincification and stress corrosion cracking, making it ideal for challenging marine and industrial applications.

Naval brass rods find extensive use in marine and industrial settings thanks to their remarkable corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. They are commonly used in marine hardware, propeller shafts, fasteners, valve stems, and heat exchanger components. In shipbuilding, these rods are essential for parts that are exposed to seawater and high stress. The oil and gas sector relies on naval brass for fittings and connectors in offshore platforms and pipelines. Additionally, it is utilized in the production of pump shafts, condenser plates, and structural elements.
