Aiman Metals, a Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-based leading producer and supplier of innovative alloy products, is known for precision, reliability, and innovation. The company supplies industries like aerospace, medical, and automotive with high-performance materials that satisfy extreme application requirements. One of its flagship products is the Nitinol Superelastic Bar, an unusual alloy known for unmatched shape memory and superelastic capabilities. Formulated for applications with the need for flexibility, strength, and accuracy, such bars are utilized extensively in medical devices, aerospace materials, and advanced engineering solutions. Aiman Metals provides custom, high-quality products that address the most demanding material specifications.
Nitinol Superelastic Bars have a composition of around 55–56% nickel and 44–45% titanium to create nearly equiatomic alloy. These bars show excellent superelasticity, with the capacity to support 8–10% strain without any permanent deformation. Mechanical properties are a tensile strength of 895–1,900 MPa, Young’s modulus of 28–41 GPa (phase dependent), and excellent fatigue resistance. Shape memory and superelastic behavior arise from a reversible phase transformation between austenite and martensite. Transformation temperatures can be tailored between -20°C and 100°C. With very good corrosion resistance, these bars are ideal for biomedical, aerospace, marine, and precision industrial applications.

Nitinol superelastic bars are used in aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, and electronics industries. They provide flexibility, durability, and corrosion resistance, making them ideal for high-performance, precision applications.
Yes, Nitinol superelastic bars can be welded, but it requires specialized techniques due to their unique properties. Proper heat control is essential to prevent loss of superelasticity and material integrity.
Yes, Nitinol superelastic bars and rods are highly customizable. They can be tailored in terms of size, shape, alloy composition, and specific superelastic properties to meet unique application requirements.
Nitinol Superelastic Bars are a critical component in applications demanding unequalled flexibility, strength, and corrosion resistance. In medicine, they find application in stents, orthodontic wires, and orthopedic implants owing to their biocompatibility and ability to conform to body movement. In aerospace and robotics, they are utilized in actuators, sensors, and control systems where strong strain recovery is essential. They are also used in sporting equipment, like golf clubs and eyeglass frames, because of their durability and resistance to impact. That they can return to their original form makes them best suited for marine parts and industrial mechanisms that are subjected to rough environments and mechanical stress.
