Stainless Steel 304 Bars and Rods consist of 18–20% chromium for resistance to corrosion, 8–10.5% nickel for increased strength and durability, and up to 0.08% carbon to preserve weldability. Other constituents are up to 2% manganese, 0.045% phosphorus, and 0.03% sulfur, with iron making up the rest. In mechanical terms, SS 304 has a tensile strength of 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of 40% on 50 mm, with a hardness of 92 HRB. All these characteristics make it perfect for use in applications that require both mechanical strength and high resistance to oxidation and corrosion.
