Stainless Steel 304L Flat Bar is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy with a low carbon content, which gives it outstanding corrosion resistance and weldability. Typically, it contains 18–20% chromium, 8–12% nickel, and a maximum of 0.03% carbon. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength of about 485 MPa, a yield strength of around 170 MPa, and an elongation of 40% over 50 mm. It also maintains good toughness, even at cryogenic temperatures. The lower carbon content helps reduce carbide precipitation during welding, making it ideal for corrosive environments where welding is necessary without sacrificing corrosion resistance.
