Stainless Steel 316L Hex Bar/Rod is a low-carbon variant of SS 316, providing superior corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-rich environments. Its makeup consists of 16–18% Chromium, 10–14% Nickel, 2–3% Molybdenum, and a maximum carbon content of 0.03%. This grade is known for its excellent weldability and resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. In terms of mechanical properties, it boasts a tensile strength of around 485 MPa, yield strength of 170 MPa, and an elongation of 40%. The low carbon content helps reduce carbide precipitation during welding, making it ideal for highly corrosive and high-purity applications.
