Stainless Steel 420 Bars and Rods typically consist of 12–14% chromium, 0.15–0.40% carbon, along with trace amounts of manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur. This unique composition allows for hardening through heat treatment, resulting in impressive strength and wear resistance. Their mechanical properties include tensile strength reaching up to 700–850 MPa (when hardened), yield strength around 450 MPa, an elongation of about 20%, and Brinell hardness up to 500 HB, depending on the heat treatment. The alloy also maintains good machinability in its annealed state and excellent polishability, making it a great choice for applications where both aesthetics and precision matter.
