Stainless Steel 420 is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel that contains around 12–14% chromium and at least 0.15% carbon. It boasts good corrosion resistance, impressive polishability, and high hardness when heat-treated. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength ranging from 700–1000 MPa, a yield strength of about 500 MPa, and a maximum hardness of approximately 50–55 HRC after proper heat treatment. This steel is magnetic and can be hardened through heat treatment, making it perfect for applications that demand sharp edges, high wear resistance, and structural reliability in less aggressive corrosive environments.
