Stainless Steel 430 is a ferritic stainless steel alloy that mainly consists of 16–18% chromium, featuring low carbon content (≤0.12%) and very little nickel. It boasts good corrosion resistance, excellent formability, and impressive resistance to oxidation at high temperatures. Typical mechanical properties include a tensile strength ranging from 450–600 MPa, a yield strength of about 280 MPa, and a hardness of up to 200 HB. SS 430 is magnetic and cannot be hardened through heat treatment, but it is well-suited for cold working.
