Stainless Steel 430 is a ferritic stainless steel alloy that mainly consists of 16–18% chromium and low carbon (≤0.12%), along with small amounts of manganese, silicon, and nickel. It boasts moderate corrosion resistance, especially in mildly acidic and oxidizing conditions, and offers good formability. In terms of mechanical properties, it has a tensile strength ranging from about 450 to 600 MPa and a yield strength of around 250 MPa. This alloy is magnetic and cannot be hardened through heat treatment, but it can be strengthened by cold working. SS 430 retains solid structural integrity and oxidation resistance at moderate temperatures.
