Stainless Steel 455 is a martensitic, age-hardenable alloy that contains around 11–12.5% chromium, 7.5–9.5% nickel, 1.5–2.5% copper, along with trace amounts of titanium and molybdenum. It achieves remarkable strength through heat treatment while still offering good corrosion resistance. In its aged state, it can reach a tensile strength of up to 1380 MPa and a yield strength of about 1170 MPa. This alloy boasts excellent toughness, fatigue resistance, and moderate corrosion resistance in both atmospheric and mild chemical environments, making it a great choice for critical, high-load components across various industries.
