Tantalum R05252 is a corrosion-resistant alloy primarily made of tantalum, with a small addition of tungsten (2.5% W) to boost its strength and resistance to corrosion compared to pure tantalum. It meets ASTM B365 standards and boasts a high melting point of around 3017°C, a tensile strength of about 250–350 MPa, and a yield strength ranging from 200–250 MPa, along with good elongation (>25%). This alloy is specifically crafted for use in strong acid environments, particularly nitric and sulfuric acid, where maintaining both mechanical integrity and chemical stability is crucial.
